Born in Middlesbrough North Yorkshire, Mackenzie Thorpe is an artist who has been hailed as “a global art phenomenon”, credited with changing the face of art publishing within the UK.
WHAT DOES HE DRAW?Mackenzie first became famous for his iconic “Square Sheep”, but over the years he has established a number of other much-loved and distinctive genres such as the “Duffle Coat Child”, “Big Heads”, “Love” and of course the “Industrial” artwork born out of his Middlesbrough roots.

WHO DOES HE DRAW FOR?Mackenzie Thorpe’s artwork is renowned for being accessible to all, with followers of his work spanning from Yorkshire to Chicago, Japan to Liverpool. Some more familiar collectors of his work are Actor Tom Hardy, Author JK Rowling and Queen Elizabeth II to name a few. Mackenzie has also undertaken many prestigious commissions for clients which range from The Andre Agassi Foundation, the Elton John Aids Foundation, Princess Anne and William Hague.

WHAT is HE DOIng now?
Having just celebrated 30 years in the business in 2019, Mackenzie continues to blaze a trail for the artists who have followed in his footsteps. In his anniversary year Mackenzie’s work has been celebrated from the banks of the river Tees where he grew up, through the hills and dales of Yorkshire where he made his name, across UK galleries to the shores of America and Japan. When not in his studio, chatting on the BBC or travelling for work Mackenzie can be found doing some of his favourite things:

In Richmond, North Yorkshire, you will find Arthaus, the official gallery of Mackenzie Thorpe. We have a large collection of prints, originals, sculptures and gifts at our two storey gallery. We are a happy team of Mackenzie Thorpe fans who will do our best to answer any Thorpe related questions.
